Born Candis Loving in 1956 in Oklahoma, she grew up with the charm and warmth of the Midwest. Long before gracing the pages of Playboy, Candis dreamed of a career behind the camera, studying journalism at the University of Oklahoma. Her life took an unexpected turn in 1978 when her boyfriend encouraged her to enter a nationwide modeling contest celebrating Playboy’s 25th Anniversary.

Out of thousands of contestants, Candis stood out immediately. Her radiant smile, natural beauty, and approachable personality captivated the judges and, soon after, millions of fans. In January 1979, she was named Playmate of the Month, cementing her place as one of the most memorable faces of the magazine’s golden era.
