A Woman Raised a Large Python at Home

A woman kept a python named Saffron as a household pet. The bright yellow snake had lived with her for three years and had gradually become part of her daily routine.

Her family often reminded her, “Be careful — it’s still a wild animal.”
But she would simply reply, “Saffron is calm. She’s never shown aggression.”

After a while, though, she began noticing unusual changes in the snake’s behavior.

Saffron stopped eating regularly. At night, she would quietly leave her enclosure and rest beside her owner, stretching her body from head to tail along the length of the bed. Sometimes she loosely coiled around the woman’s waist before settling again.

During the day, Saffron preferred the cool floor near the bed, staying completely still for long periods. The woman noticed the snake’s attention seemed unusually focused on her movements, especially the rise and fall of her breathing.

The strange behavior raised concerns, and her family encouraged her to consult an expert to understand what might be causing the change.
