Two years ago, I was just eighteen, struggling to survive as a student. I came from a humble family and had achieved what many considered impossible: admission into the state university. But reality hit hard. I didn’t own a computer, my notes were a chaotic mess, and hunger often accompanied me through long lectures. Money wasn’t just tight—it was a constant source of stress.
One afternoon, while walking home exhausted, I noticed a woman struggling in her garden. She looked distinguished, confident, and slightly overwhelmed by the weeds taking over her yard. I saw an opportunity to help—and maybe earn a little money.
I offered my services to clean her garden. She agreed, and the next morning, I threw myself into the work. By noon, the yard was transformed. Impressed, she insisted on paying me generously. But she also asked for my number “just in case.”
The following day, she called again—this time asking for help with a small household repair. As I worked, we shared stories. She told me about her travels, her family, and the challenges she had overcome. Her life experiences were inspiring, and her guidance became a source of mentorship for me.
Over time, her support changed my life. She helped me get a computer, gave me new clothes, and even offered advice on managing school and life. I grew more confident, my grades improved, and opportunities I had only dreamed of became reality.
Tonight, to celebrate the end of my exams, she booked a weekend at the city’s most luxurious hotel. At the reception desk, she smiled at the clerk:
—“Give us the farthest room, so we won’t be disturbed.”
It was a small, playful moment—but a reminder of how far I had come in just two years. From struggling student to a young man with opportunity and guidance, life had completely transformed.
