If children or pets are nearby, keeping them from disturbing an unfamiliar creature is also a sensible precaution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There is no reason to pick up a wild animal simply to get a closer look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you need to move or remove an unfamiliar organism from an area, it’s better to consult a reliable local wildlife or environmental resource for appropriate guidance rather than experimenting with it yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The experience reminded me how easy it is to make assumptions based on appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At first, I saw a creature that looked vaguely like a worm and assumed that was what it was.
