The Tiny Swimmers I Found in My Toilet Had a Strange Origin

There are few places in a house where you expect a surprise, and the toilet is definitely near the top of that list. So when I walked into the guest bathroom one humid morning and saw small dark shapes moving through the water, I did exactly what most people would do: I froze.

At first, my mind went straight to the worst possibilities. Something from the sewer? Some kind of parasite? A plumbing problem I was about to regret ignoring? The little shapes were darting around quickly, completely out of place in a clean bathroom that had barely been used in days.

The room suddenly felt less like part of my home and more like a scene from an urban legend. I did not want to flush, but I also did not want to lean closer. For a few minutes, I simply stood there, trying to decide whether this was a pest problem, a plumbing emergency, or something even stranger.

A Closer Look Changed Everything

Once the first wave of panic passed, curiosity took over. I put on gloves, grabbed a clear glass jar, and carefully scooped up a little of the toilet water so I could see what was actually swimming around.
