Most shower routines happen on autopilot. You turn on the water, grab the shampoo or soap, and start washing in the same order you probably followed yesterday without giving it much thought.
That tiny habit has become the subject of a popular personality theory: the first body part you wash in the shower may offer a clue about how you move through the world.
It is worth being clear from the start. There is no scientific proof that shower order can identify anyone’s personality. Your routine is far more likely to come from habit, comfort, skin-care needs, hair-care products, culture, mobility, or simply what feels easiest.
Still, as a lighthearted way to look at everyday behavior, the idea is hard to resist.
