A routine trip to Walmart turned into an unexpected safety concern after a shopper in Windsor, Connecticut, reportedly found a razor blade hidden in the handle of a shopping cart.
According to reports, Cheryl and Mel Johnson were getting ready to shop when Mel came into contact with the blade and injured his hand. The injury was described as minor, but the discovery immediately raised questions about how the blade got there and whether other carts could have been affected.
Store management was reportedly notified right away. An inspection of the carts at that location followed, and no additional blades were found.
Why Shoppers Are Taking It Seriously
Even though the reported injury was not severe, the situation has unsettled many shoppers because shopping carts are handled by nearly everyone: adults, seniors, store employees, and children.
