The Doctor Was Laughing—Then We Discovered Why My Husband Smelled So Strange
I knew something was wrong the moment I hugged my husband.
The smell was impossible to ignore.
It wasn’t ordinary body odor or the result of forgetting deodorant. It was sharp, sour, and strangely pungent—almost chemical. And somehow, it seemed to get stronger every day.
Soon, even the laundry room had developed an unmistakable smell.
I tried everything I could think of. I asked him to shower more often, change his detergent, drink more water, and pay closer attention to his clothes. Nothing made a difference.
Then his coworkers started noticing, too.
One of them even suggested, as politely as possible, that he might want to work from home for a few days.
That’s when I stopped laughing.
I Started Worrying About His Health
My mind immediately went to the worst possibilities.
Could it be an infection? A kidney problem? Some other medical condition we hadn’t noticed?
I booked him an appointment with a urologist and went with him, quietly terrified that we were about to receive some serious news.
While he was called into the examination room, I sat in the waiting area scrolling through my phone and trying not to imagine every possible diagnosis.
Then, about five minutes later, the door opened.
The doctor walked out.
He was red-faced.
He looked like he was trying desperately not to laugh.
Then he glanced at me and coughed into his hand.
I stood up immediately.
“Doctor… what’s wrong?”
He didn’t answer.
Instead, he pointed toward the examination room.
My heart sank.
