Several women shared their experiences of becoming involved with married men, and what those experiences ultimately taught them about love, boundaries, and self-respect.
The Thrill of the Forbidden
For some, the draw was intensity. One woman described the excitement of a relationship she knew could never last. “There was something intoxicating about knowing it wasn’t allowed,” she said. “Every stolen conversation, every secret meeting felt like a spark in my life that I hadn’t realized was missing.”
Another woman admitted she didn’t know he was married at first. The revelation left her stunned, ashamed, and deeply regretful. “I felt blindsided,” she reflected. “It wasn’t about him anymore; it was about me realizing I had ignored the red flags in my own desire to feel wanted.”
The secrecy, the hidden moments, and the thrill of doing something “forbidden” became a high that some found hard to resist, even as warning signs mounted.
Believing in Promises
Many women were drawn in by promises of change. “He said he’d leave her one day,” one shared. “And for a long time, I believed him.” The hope that the future might bend in their favor often kept them in situations they knew were unstable.
