For weeks, my dog Rick’s behavior had become increasingly unusual. Normally calm and easygoing, he suddenly began climbing onto the top of the kitchen cabinets and growling at the ceiling. At first, I worried he was acting strangely—but then I realized he was trying to tell me something.
One quiet Tuesday afternoon, the mystery became clear. Rick was perched atop the cabinets, barking and growling with unusual intensity. Following his gaze, I noticed movement near the ceiling vent. To my shock, a man’s hand emerged from the duct, followed by his head. The intruder had been living undetected in the building’s ventilation system, slipping in and out of apartments while residents were away.
