Jake was enjoying a peaceful day at the lake when a black snake approached him—calm, yet unusually close. “It just stopped and lifted its head… almost like it was begging,” he recalled. Curious and concerned, he offered it water. To his shock, the snake drank from the glass. That’s when he called Animal Control.
Officer Mark arrived and immediately sensed something was wrong. “Not usually. We need to be careful with this one,” he warned. The snake stayed oddly still, not showing aggression but acting unlike any wild snake they had encountered. “Animals act differently when something’s wrong,” Mark observed.
As the sun began to set, birds suddenly took flight from nearby trees. “They’re spooked. Something’s nearby, or something’s about to happen,” Mark said, noting the unusual behavior. The tension grew as both men realized the animals were reacting to something they couldn’t see.
