Gwyneth Paltrow Breaks Silence on Steamy Scenes With Timothée Chalamet

Gwyneth Paltrow is giving fans a rare glimpse behind the scenes of her latest Hollywood project — and her comments are quickly making waves across the entertainment world.

The Oscar-winning actress stars opposite Timothée Chalamet in Marty Supreme, a buzzy A24 film that has already become a box office success. During a recent public Q&A in California, Paltrow opened up about filming intimate scenes with the much younger actor and how the experience unfolded.

“I Thought It Might Be Strange”

At 53, Paltrow admitted she initially wondered whether the age difference between her and Chalamet — who is in his late 20s — would make the romantic scenes uncomfortable.

“I definitely had that thought,” she said during the event. “You don’t know how something like that is going to feel until you’re actually doing it.”

As it turned out, Paltrow said there were no issues at all. Chalamet, she explained, approached the role with professionalism and focus, allowing both actors to concentrate on delivering believable performances rather than worrying about perceptions.

Inside Marty Supreme

In the film, Paltrow plays a former actress married to a wealthy man who begins a passionate affair with Marty, portrayed by Chalamet. The relationship unfolds as Marty pursues success at the British Open table tennis championship.

Director Josh Safdie reportedly leaned into the intensity of the characters’ connection, including filming a daring scene set in a public park where the couple is interrupted by police — a moment that has already sparked discussion among fans.

Her Son Was Not a Fan

While the movie’s chemistry may have impressed audiences, Paltrow revealed that her son had a much harder time watching it.

The actress shares her 19-year-old son, Moses, with ex-husband Chris Martin of Coldplay. According to Paltrow, Moses attended the Los Angeles premiere — and immediately regretted it.

“He wanted to crawl out of his seat,” she joked.

She later explained during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers that Moses covered his eyes during the more intimate scenes, clearly uncomfortable watching his mother in such moments.

A Very Different Reaction From Her Daughter

Not everyone in the family reacted the same way. Paltrow said her daughter, Apple, had the opposite response.

“My daughter thought it was totally cool,” she shared. “But my son was like, ‘Oh no. This is way too much.’”

The moment resonated with fans, many of whom related to the universal awkwardness of watching a parent in romantic roles on screen.

A24’s Latest Box Office Hit

Despite the family cringe factor, Marty Supreme has been a major win for A24. Since its release in December 2025, the film has earned more than $100 million worldwide, making it one of the studio’s strongest performers to date.

Interest in the movie spiked even further after paparazzi captured Paltrow and Chalamet filming a kissing scene in Central Park, images that quickly circulated online and fueled speculation about the film’s bold storytelling.

Fans Weigh In

So far, audience reaction has been largely positive, with viewers praising both performances and the film’s fearless approach to romance. While some were surprised by the age-gap storyline, the movie’s commercial success suggests it resonated with moviegoers.
