Venezuelan Nobel Peace Prize Winner Gifts Medal to Donald Trump in White House Meeting

Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, winner of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, presented her Nobel medal to former U.S. President Donald Trump during a meeting at the White House on January 15, 2026. The gesture was symbolic and aimed at highlighting appreciation for Trump’s role in recent developments in Venezuela.

Machado was awarded the prize in October 2025 for her long‑standing efforts to promote democratic rights and peaceful political change in Venezuela while opposing the administration of Nicolás Maduro. Following the U.S. military operation in early January that led to Maduro’s capture, she publicly acknowledged Trump’s support for democratic transition in her country.
