Three American service members were killed in action amid the ongoing conflict with Iran, U.S. military officials confirmed one day after the United States and Israel launched strikes against the country and Iran quickly hit back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Five others were seriously wounded as part of the operation, according to U.S. Central Command. The service members were not immediately identified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Israel and Iran continued to trade attacks on Sunday after Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the joint strikes with the United States. Explosions were heard in Tehran into the afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Iran has vowed to seek revenge for Khamenei’s killing and hit an American Navy base in Bahrain on Saturday, but no U.S. service members were wounded or killed. Bahrain\u2019s international airport and Dubai\u2019s luxury hotel Burj Al Arab were both damaged in attacks by Iran. Loud blasts were also heard in the Qatari capital of Doha, and Oman was hit for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conflict follows weeks of rising tensions as President Donald Trump repeatedly threatened to attack Iran if negotiations over its nuclear and missile development programs fail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some 27% of respondents said they approved of the strikes, while a majority said they were either unsure about them (29%) or said they disapproved of the military action (43%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two-day poll, which ended on Sunday, Mar. 1, also found about half of respondents \u2212 56% \u2212 believe President Trump is too willing to use military force to advance U.S. interests. Trump has also ordered strikes in Venezuela, Syria and Nigeria in recent months. The vast majority of Democrats, 87%, held this view, as did 23% of Republicans and 60% of people who don’t identify with either political party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
