By the early 2000s, he reached an even wider audience as Josh Bryant in The Princess Diaries (2001), charming viewers alongside Anne Hathaway and rounding out a career full of memorable, family-friendly roles.

Shifting Away from Hollywood
As Erik entered adulthood, he kept working steadily, appearing in series like Dinotopia (2002) and the sitcom Complete Savages (2004–2005). But the entertainment industry was changing, and Erik, like many child actors, began considering a different path.
He wanted stability, a family life, and the freedom to build a future outside of Hollywood. Around age 25, he transitioned into a full-time role at a commodities brokerage firm, a career shift that allowed him to focus on consistent work and his growing family.
Though he stepped back from the limelight, he never entirely closed the door. Over the years, he returned for occasional projects, including community theater, short films, and most recently, the 2024 television movie My Acting Coach Nightmare.
Family First
Outside of acting, Erik has built a fulfilling life. He met his wife, Angela, through mutual colleagues—she works in real estate and is fluent in Mandarin. Together, they have three young children and live in Southern California, embracing a life centered on family, daily routines, and shared adventures.
