The fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent in Minneapolis has ignited national outrage, leaving communities demanding answers and justice.

Good, a poet, writer, and mother of three, was killed during a confrontation with federal immigration officers. While federal authorities described her actions as “weaponizing her vehicle” and even labeled it “an act of domestic terrorism,” videos circulating online suggest a far different story.

Footage shows Good attempting to drive away as agents surrounded her SUV. Her wheels were clearly turned away from an officer standing in front of her vehicle. The car clipped him without knocking him down, and within seconds, the agent fired multiple shots through the windshield and driver-side window. The vehicle then crashed into a parked car. The entire encounter unfolded in less than 10 seconds.

Viewers watching online quickly pointed out the wheels’ position, arguing that Good appeared to be fleeing, not attacking. Social media lit up with reactions calling the shooting “murder” and demanding accountability.

Public officials also weighed in. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called it “a public murder” and described the incident as “the manifestation of every American’s worst nightmare.” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey demanded ICE leave the city, condemning the killing and disputing claims of self-defense.

Those who knew Renee Good say the federal account does not match the woman they loved. Her mother described her as “compassionate, loving, forgiving, and affectionate.” Friends and former teachers remembered her as gentle and outward-focused, a person who cared deeply for others. Far from a criminal, Good was a U.S. citizen with no criminal record aside from a single traffic ticket.
