Minneapolis Incident Claims Life of Mother and Poet Renee Nicole Good, 37

A tragic shooting in Minneapolis has claimed the life of 37-year-old poet and mother-of-three, Renee Nicole Good. Her death has shocked the community and drawn renewed scrutiny to federal immigration enforcement operations.

Good’s mother, Donna Ganger, spoke to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, describing her daughter as “probably terrified” in her final moments. She strongly denied rumors linking Good to the ongoing ICE protests at the scene of the shooting.

“That’s so stupid,” Ganger said. “Renee was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known. She was compassionate, loving, forgiving, and affectionate. She was an amazing human being.”

Born and raised in Colorado Springs, Good pursued her passion for poetry while also raising three children. She was previously married to comedian Timothy Macklin, who passed away in 2023, and had one child with him, a six-year-old son. After Macklin’s death, her son became effectively parentless on his father’s side, with his grandfather telling the press, “There’s nobody else in his life. I’ll drive. I’ll fly. To come and get my grandchild.”

Good lived in Minneapolis with her partner, whose name has not been released. According to authorities, the fatal incident occurred Wednesday during an ICE enforcement operation. Video and official reports indicate that Good ignored agents’ orders to exit her vehicle, reversed, and attempted to drive away. She was shot three times in the face, dying at the scene.
