“Max, no,” Sarah whispered, but before she could reach him, he had already climbed in.

The puppy curled himself around the small child lying there—Noah. At just a year and a half old, Noah had been diagnosed with a rare neurological condition. Doctors had warned that he might never walk, talk, or smile. Despite countless therapies and treatments, his progress had been minimal, and he spent his days staring upward, seemingly disconnected from the world.
