The ruined remnants of our wedding cake were there, waiting to be discovered. The cake that I had been saving up for months in order to purchase. Specifically, the one that I had meticulously selected by scheduling tasting sessions, swatching different colors, and fantasizing about the ideal moment when my husband and I would cut it together.
Only at this moment was it no longer there. Been ruined.
It was for my wedding, Margaret, that I ordered this cake! I sobbed as I moved closer to the empty box that was sitting on the table. “How could you possibly consume it? The price tag was one thousand dollars!
As she scoffed, she said, “Oh, please, Claire.” “Simply put, it’s cake. There was not even a delicious cake. Fortunately, we were able to get rid of it.
“You had no right to do that!” My eyes were already filled with tears as I yelled out in a loud voice.
She rolled her eyes in disapproval. “You are usually such a theatrical person. It’s not like it makes a difference.”
Her companions definitely enjoyed themselves as they chuckled gently. At the same time as they were all getting up to leave, one of them threw a napkin onto the table.
