Tensions are rising in Washington after Marsha Blackburn called for a formal ethics review of Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, following the justice’s appearance at the Grammy Awards.
The controversy centers on Jackson’s attendance at the high-profile ceremony, where several performers made outspoken remarks critical of U.S. immigration enforcement agencies from the stage. While Jackson was not involved in any political statements, critics point to her visible reactions in the audience as raising concerns about public perception of judicial neutrality.
Justice Jackson was nominated at the event for her memoir, Lovely One, in the category of Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording. The award ultimately went to Dalai Lama for his audiobook Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
In a post on X, Blackburn argued that the setting itself was the issue. She wrote that Americans deserve a Supreme Court that remains clearly above political influence and said the justice’s presence at what she described as a “highly politicized event” raises ethical questions.
.@AlexMarlow: Impeach Ketanji!
