23 Years Later, Authorities Recover Vehicle Linked to Long-Missing Mother in Arkansas

More than two decades after a woman and her child went missing in Arkansas, authorities have recovered a submerged vehicle believed to be connected to the case. The discovery may finally bring long-awaited answers to a family that has lived with uncertainty for over 23 years.

Officials from the Pope County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a nonprofit search group located a vehicle believed to belong to Samantha Jean Hopper, who disappeared in September 1998. Human remains were found inside the vehicle, and forensic testing is underway to confirm identities.
