An Unexpected Early Signal for the 2028 Race Just Appeared

J.D. Vance emerged as the top choice in a Republican presidential straw poll conducted at the National Pro-Life Summit, according to event organizers. The informal vote asked attendees to indicate their preferred Republican candidate for the 2028 presidential election.

Organizers said the results reflect the views of grassroots pro-life activists and younger voters who participated in the summit. Nearly half of respondents identified abortion policy as their single most important voting issue, with a large majority ranking it among their top two priorities.

Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins said the straw poll highlights early preferences within a key segment of the Republican base as the next election cycle begins to take shape. While the poll is nonbinding, organizers described it as a snapshot of priorities among engaged activists.
