A husband and wife attended a long Sunday service at their local church, prepared for a morning of prayer, hymns, and, as usual, an extended sermon. While the husband sat attentively, taking mental notes and nodding at the pastor’s points, his wife soon began to drift off, her head tilting gently with each passing minute.
After a while, the husband noticed her dozing and decided to wake her subtly. He poked her lightly with his finger as the pastor asked a question about the gathering that had led the Israelites to freedom from slavery in Egypt. Startled awake, the wife blurted out, “The Almighty!” before promptly dozing off again, much to her husband’s quiet frustration.
