The bus was packed, filled mostly with older passengers carrying shopping bags and chatting quietly about everyday things. In one of the aisle seats sat a young man who looked exhausted. He kept to himself, staring ahead, not engaging with anyone around him.
At the next stop, a woman boarded with two small children. With no empty seats available, she looked around the bus, clearly frustrated by the lack of space. Her eyes landed on the young man. She walked over and asked him, in a raised voice, to give up his seat because she was traveling with children.
