Rock music mourns the loss of Phil Campbell, legendary guitarist of the iconic band Motörhead, who has passed away at the age of 64. The musician died following a “complex operation,” after what his family described as a long and courageous battle in intensive care.

The announcement came from Phil Campbell and The Bastard Sons, the band featuring his sons Todd, Dane, and Tyla Campbell. The statement honored Phil’s life both on and off the stage.

Phil joined Motörhead in 1984 and became a defining part of the band’s hard-hitting sound. He remained with the group until 2015, when the band disbanded following the death of Motörhead founder Lemmy Kilmister. Over three decades, Phil helped shape the band’s legacy, thrilling fans around the world with his electrifying guitar work.
