The sound came first.

A rough, sputtering engine echoed down the dusty road—a sound no one had heard in years. It was uneven, stubborn, almost forgotten. Yet it pulled people from their routines as if summoned.

Old Nina paused mid-task. Grandpa Kolya lifted his gaze. Others stepped out onto porches, drawn by something familiar… and unexpected.

It was Stepan’s motorcycle.

For years, it had sat abandoned beneath a worn-out tarp beside a collapsing shed. After his wife passed, Stepan had slowly faded into the background of village life. His home fell into disrepair. His garden turned wild. Even his voice seemed to disappear with time.

But now, the motorcycle was moving again.

And Stepan wasn’t alone.

Seated behind him was a woman—young, calm, and quietly confident. Her blue dress, dotted with daisies, stood in soft contrast to the dusty road. As they rolled into the village, whispers followed close behind.

When they stopped, the silence was thick.

Stepan removed his helmet, steady and composed. Then he spoke:

“Everyone, meet Lena… my wife.”
