I went back to Denver expecting a quiet break before returning to duty at Fort Carson. As an Army captain in logistics, my life runs on structure, accountability, and discipline. By day two, I was sitting in an urgent care clinic being treated for a burn on my cheek. The cause wasn’t an accident—it was a family argument that spiraled out of control.
It started at my parents’ kitchen table. My sister was frustrated after being denied a loan due to poor credit. Without much discussion, she asked to use my credit card to help her out. I said no—calmly and clearly. My financial record isn’t just personal; it’s tied to my career. Any misuse could affect my standing and future in the military.
That answer didn’t go over well.
