Understanding the “SSSS” Code
Air travel can already feel stressful, with schedules, security procedures, and crowded terminals to manage. For some passengers, that stress increases when they notice a code printed on their boarding pass: “SSSS.”
“SSSS” stands for Secondary Security Screening Selection. It is a designation used by the Transportation Security Administration to indicate that a traveler has been selected for additional screening before boarding.
