Recovery Crews Respond to Landslide Incident on Duffy Lake Road

A tragic natural disaster has shaken the province of British Columbia, where a massive mudslide near Lillooet has claimed multiple lives and left communities mourning.

The incident occurred along Highway 99, a scenic but vulnerable route also known as Duffey Lake Road. Following days of intense rainfall caused by a powerful atmospheric river, the saturated mountainside gave way, sending a surge of mud, rocks, and debris crashing across the roadway. What began as a search-and-rescue mission quickly turned into a heartbreaking recovery effort.

Authorities, including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the British Columbia Coroners Service, have been working tirelessly under extremely dangerous conditions. So far, four fatalities have been confirmed.
