Stray Dog Wouldn’t Stop Barking at Delivery Driver’s Trunk — Then He Opened It
I had been driving delivery routes through quiet Ohio neighborhoods for almost nine years.
Most days were simple.
Pick up packages.
Follow the route.
Drop them off.
Go home.
That afternoon was cold, gray, and windy. My regular van was in the shop, so I was using a rented sedan with the trunk packed full of boxes.
Near the end of my shift, I pulled into a grocery store parking lot on Elm Street to grab coffee before returning to the warehouse.
That was when I saw the dog.
A Golden Retriever stood near the edge of the lot. Her fur was dirty and tangled, and her amber eyes looked anxious.
She didn’t seem like a normal stray looking for food.
She looked desperate.
