This Egg Puzzle Looks Easy—But the Answer May Not Be What You Think
At first glance, this puzzle seems simple.
There is a pan full of eggs. All you have to do is count them.
Easy, right?
Not necessarily.
Once you look more closely, the answer becomes surprisingly difficult to prove.
Is It 6, 7, or 8 Eggs?
Most people immediately count the visible yolks and assume each one represents a separate egg.
But that method has a problem.
Double-yolk eggs exist.
Two yolks sitting close together could come from two separate eggs—or from one egg containing two yolks. The image alone may not give enough information to know which explanation is correct.
The Egg Whites Make It Even Harder
Egg whites spread quickly in a hot pan.
When several eggs are cracked close together, the whites can merge and their original boundaries become difficult or impossible to see.
