A disturbing new development involving the Trump family has drawn attention in Washington after Iranian state television aired material appearing to target President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump. The broadcast has prompted renewed scrutiny of security surrounding the president’s family, while U.S. officials remain cautious about discussing specific protective measures.
The U.S. Secret Service confirmed that it was aware of the video and was investigating the material as part of its responsibility to assess potential threats against people under its protection. Spokesperson Nate Herring said the agency investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat but declined to discuss protective intelligence or operational details for security reasons.
The roughly three-minute broadcast, aired by Iranian state media in August, focused on Barron, who is 20. Reports said the segment claimed his movements were being monitored and displayed information about locations and security arrangements allegedly associated with him. It also referred to a supposed $10 million reward for targeting him. However, the bounty claim and several other operational assertions made in the broadcast have not been independently verified.
The incident follows earlier threatening material involving Melania Trump. In July, Iranian media linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps aired a segment focused on the first lady that reportedly discussed her movements and potential security vulnerabilities. The Barron broadcast therefore appears within a broader pattern of hostile messaging directed toward members of the Trump family.
