Comedian Ellen DeGeneres, now living a quieter life in the English countryside, is breaking her silence on a shocking tragedy in the U.S.
On Jan. 7, Renee Nicole Good, 37, was fatally shot in Minneapolis by an ICE agent, Jonathan Ross, shortly after dropping off her six-year-old at school. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community—and DeGeneres is speaking out for the first time.
Ellen’s Message to Minneapolis
In a heartfelt Instagram video, DeGeneres addressed Minneapolis residents directly, reflecting on her time filming her 2024 Netflix special, Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval, in the city.
“Hey everybody, I just wanted to say, I am so sorry for what is happening in Minneapolis and our country, really, but specifically Minneapolis right now because that’s where I shot my last stand-up special. Everyone there couldn’t have been more lovely,” she said.
She praised the city’s reputation as “the happiest city in America” and expressed support for peaceful protesters:
