Why Onions Can Interfere With Sleep

For some people, especially those with sensitive digestion, onions—particularly when eaten raw—can make nighttime rest more difficult. Onions contain sulfur compounds and natural fructans, which are healthy but harder to digest for certain individuals.

As your body prepares for sleep, digestion naturally slows. Eating onions late in the evening may increase the risk of:
