Justice Department Warns California Officials Over Interference With Federal Immigration Enforcement

The U.S. Department of Justice has issued a formal warning to several California officials, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, regarding public statements suggesting potential action against federal immigration agents.

In a letter sent Thursday, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche addressed California Governor Gavin Newsom, Attorney General Rob Bonta, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins, and Pelosi. The letter emphasized that federal officers conducting immigration enforcement are acting under lawful authority and that attempts to interfere with their duties could violate federal law.
