Authorities have made new progress in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, mother of \u201cToday\u201d show co-host Savannah Guthrie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the past 24 hours, officials released surveillance footage from Guthrie\u2019s home in Tucson, Arizona, providing a first detailed look at a masked individual near the residence around the time of her disappearance. The video was captured on a Nest security camera and later reconstructed by the FBI from residual data after the footage was not automatically saved to the cloud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The images show a person wearing light-colored clothing approaching the house at night. According to former FBI agent Mark Harrigan, some details in the footage may suggest inexperience. Harrigan noted the way the individual carried a firearm as unusual, stating that it appeared awkwardly positioned at the front of the body rather than in a more typical concealed manner. \u201cA sophisticated approach would normally involve keeping the weapon concealed,\u201d he said. Harrigan also observed that the person appeared to reach for nearby vegetation, potentially to obscure the camera lens, which he described as another sign of inexperience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Private investigator Andy Kay also noted that the firearm handling indicated a lack of professional training, describing the person as a \u201crookie\u201d in that respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The release of the footage comes ten days after Nancy Guthrie\u2019s disappearance on January 3, 2026. Investigators attribute the delay in part to the lack of a paid cloud storage subscription for the security camera, which required technical recovery from the system\u2019s backend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that multiple persons of interest are under review as part of the investigation. A $50,000 reward is currently being offered for any information leading to Guthrie\u2019s safe return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authorities previously detained a man in connection with the case, questioning him about his movements. He was later released without charges. Officials emphasized that no suspects have been publicly named, and that all individuals currently under review are considered persons of interest until the investigation reaches further conclusions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Savannah Guthrie shared the newly released photos and video on social media, urging the public to help locate her mother. \u201cWe believe she is still alive,\u201d she said, asking anyone with information to come forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
