A well-known Canadian television journalist has passed away at the age of 61 following a long battle with cancer. According to reports from CTV News, she died peacefully on Sunday morning surrounded by her family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over a career that spanned more than three decades, Thomson became a familiar and trusted presence in Canadian news. She joined CTV News Toronto as a reporter and later served as an anchor on Canada AM. She also worked as a news anchor for Global News from 1997 to 2003.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Throughout her career, she covered major national and international events, including the 2016 U.S. presidential election. She was also known for conducting thoughtful interviews with prominent public figures such as C\u00e9line Dion, Shania Twain, Donald Trump, and Chris Hadfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In October of last year, Thomson received a lifetime achievement award from the Radio Television Digital News Association of Canada in recognition of her lasting contributions to journalism. During the presentation, then-president Lis Travers described her as one of Canada\u2019s most respected news personalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Richard Gray, vice-president of news at Bell Media, also shared a tribute, calling Thomson \u201ca trusted voice and a valued teammate\u201d whose professionalism and warmth left a lasting impact on colleagues and viewers alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
