Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor: Honoring a Hero Lost in Operation Epic Fury<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Tragic news has shaken the U.S. military community. Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, 39, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, was among six American service members killed in an Iranian drone strike at Port Shuaiba, Kuwait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Soldier Just Days From Home<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Nicole Amor had been eagerly counting down the days to return home to her family. Her husband, Joey Amor, shared with CBS:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe was almost home\u2026 You don\u2019t go to Kuwait thinking something\u2019s going to happen, and for her to be one of the first\u2014it hurts.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The couple had spoken just hours before the strike, exchanging texts about a small mishap the night prior. Joey recalled,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe just never responded in the morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Facing Danger With Courage<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Just a week before the deadly strike, Nicole had been moved from the main base to a makeshift, shipping container-style building, part of a plan to disperse personnel amid fears of an attack. Joey explained,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey felt it was safer in smaller groups in separate places.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Assigned to the Army Reserve\u2019s 103rd Sustainment Command, Nicole joined the National Guard in 2005 as an automated logistics specialist and transferred to the Army Reserve in 2006. She previously served tours in both Kuwait and Iraq.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her role, Nicole and her colleagues ensured that troops in the field had the food and equipment they needed\u2014an essential mission carried out with dedication and care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Life Beyond Service<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At home, Nicole was a loving mother and vibrant community member. She adored gardening, whipping up homemade salsa from her own vegetables, and spending quality time with her high school senior son and fourth-grade daughter. Her family remembered her love for rollerblading and biking, often enjoying outdoor adventures with her children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honoring Her Fellow Service Members<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Nicole lost her life alongside Capt. Cody Khork, 35, of Winter Haven, Florida; Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, Nebraska; and Sgt. Declan Coady, 20, of West Des Moines, Iowa. The Pentagon has not yet released the names of the remaining two service members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her sacrifice serves as a solemn reminder of the risks U.S. service members face every day, often just days away from returning home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
