Speaking for over an hour, Trump called on Republicans to stay united as the party faces challenging midterm elections.

The event comes as Republicans fight to maintain or expand their narrow 218-214 majority in the House. Trump energized the crowd with his signature slogans:

“We will make America strong again. We will make America proud again. We will make America safe again, and most importantly, we will make America great again. Thank you very much Republicans, go out and win the midterms!”

<kbd>President Joe Biden walks to the Oval Office with President-elect Donald Trump, Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Trump criticized former President Barack Obama and President Joe Biden, labeling Obama “terrible” but reserving his harshest words for Biden, whom he called the “worst president in history.”

“If you go back to Obama, he was a great divider. But Obama was a terrible president,” Trump declared.

He also went after Democrats more broadly, claiming the party has failed the country:

“Republicans are the party for every hardworking patriot. We put America first, and we do things very differently from them,” he said.

Trump revisited long-standing critiques of U.S.-Iran policy, criticizing the Obama-era nuclear deal. He claimed:

“He gave Iran the right to have a nuclear weapon at the highest level within a very short period of time. I terminated that agreement as soon as I came to office.”

The agreement, officially called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, aimed to curb Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for easing sanctions. Trump withdrew the U.S. from the deal during his presidency.

Turning to current events, Trump described ongoing tensions in the Middle East and claimed Iran is eager to negotiate:

“Nobody has ever seen anything like we’re doing in the Middle East with Iran. They want to make a deal so badly, but they’re afraid to say it. They’re also afraid they’ll be killed by us. There’s never been a head of a country that wanted that job less than being the head of Iran.”

Trump characterized U.S. efforts as a “military operation”, saying the country is achieving “great military triumphs… [that] can’t be displayed on television.” However, Iranian officials have dismissed these claims, stating that any communication has been limited to intermediaries and that no direct talks have occurred.

As Republicans gear up for the midterms, Trump’s bold remarks underscore the party’s messaging strategy and highlight ongoing tensions over U.S. foreign and domestic policy.

What do you think about Trump’s comments on Biden, Obama, and Iran?
