\u201cThese are programs for every single New Yorker,\u201d Mamdani said. \u201cThey are not going to ask the immigration status of any of the children. All of those children are New Yorkers, and they deserve access to early childhood education.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mamdani reiterated that New York City\u2019s sanctuary policies restrict Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from accessing schools, hospitals, and other city-run facilities unless they present a judicial warrant signed by a judge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that, according to city officials, ICE agents often present administrative warrants rather than judicial ones, which do not grant access under city policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
