The letter, spearheaded by Representative Chris Deluzio of Western Pennsylvania, was signed by seven House Democrats, including Representatives Brendan Boyle, Dwight Evans, Madeleine Dean, Mary Gay Scanlon, Chrissy Houlahan, and Summer Lee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Boyle expressed strong concerns over ICE\u2019s practices, calling the agency \u201cout-of-control\u201d and warning against approving its funding without enforceable reforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While Fetterman acknowledged disagreements with some ICE operations, he stated that he would not support efforts that could trigger a partial federal government shutdown. \u201cI oppose shutting the government and am open to discussions on the DHS appropriations bill,\u201d he said. \u201cWe should address concerns about ICE practices, but not at the cost of government operations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fetterman also voiced criticism of specific enforcement actions in Minneapolis and called for leadership changes at DHS but reiterated that he does not support defunding ICE. \u201cI strongly disagree with some of ICE\u2019s strategies and practices, and those must change,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Senator McCormick reaffirmed support for Border Patrol and ICE while calling for a full review of controversial operations that have drawn national attention, including a recent incident in Minneapolis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
