Stevenson Jr. has passed away at the age of 89. His son confirmed that Stevenson died of natural causes on January 19 in Camarillo, California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will & Grace<\/em> became a cultural phenomenon thanks to its razor-sharp writing, groundbreaking representation, and unforgettable characters. Among its ensemble of talent, Stevenson stood out, appearing in 12 episodes across seven seasons from 2002 to 2020. His final on-screen performance came in the season 11 episode Accidentally on Porpoise<\/em>, filmed when he was 89, a testament to his dedication and enduring presence in Hollywood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Law<\/em>, Dynasty<\/em>, Murder, She Wrote<\/em>, Family Matters<\/em>, Everybody Loves Raymond<\/em>, Party of Five<\/em>, The Office<\/em>, Weeds<\/em>, My Name Is Earl<\/em>, Las Vegas<\/em>, and Curb Your Enthusiasm<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stevenson often embraced roles with a religious undertone, humorously describing his work as \u201cmarrying or burying people.\u201d His son Scott shared that, in Stevenson\u2019s words, \u201cThe panic-stricken director would invariably come to him to beg him to find a way to fill in unscripted space between \u2018We are gathered here together\u2019\u2026 and the \u2018amen\u2019 at the end of the scene. He admitted that he got pretty good at that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born in Piedmont, California, Stevenson served in the Navy during the Korean War before studying English at UC Berkeley. He married Barbara Keller, with whom he had Charles III and Valerie, and later Joy Stevenson, with whom he had Catherine, Scott, and William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is survived by five children, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren\u2014leaving behind a legacy both on-screen and in the lives of his family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
