Canada is mourning after a devastating attack on February 10, which claimed nine lives and injured at least 25 others. The violence struck both the secondary school and a nearby residence, marking one of the deadliest shootings in the nation\u2019s recent history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Six victims were discovered at the school, with a seventh dying on the way to the hospital. Two more were found at a nearby home, and police believe these deaths are linked to the attack. Authorities also found the suspected shooter dead at the school, apparently from a self-inflicted injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grade 12 student Darian Quist recounted his terrifying experience to CBC Radio West. Arriving at school in the afternoon, he immediately faced blaring alarms that sent students and staff into lockdown. But once people sent me some photos, it really hit me what was happening.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seeing graphic images of blood made the situation real for Quist. \u201cI was scared. We were thinking about escape plans in case someone came to the door\u2014we were ready to run if needed,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the lockdown ended, police escorted Quist and the others safely, keeping their hands up at all times.
