A disturbing image circulating online has sparked plenty of curiosity, with the caption:
“These are the consequences of sleeping with…”
The photograph shows a large, dark, irritated-looking area of skin covered with numerous small bumps and lesions. The dramatic caption appears designed to make viewers immediately wonder what could have caused such a severe reaction.
However, a photograph alone cannot reliably determine the cause of a skin condition. Similar-looking rashes can result from infections, allergic or irritant reactions, insect bites, eczema, or other dermatological conditions. The image should therefore not be used as proof that a particular behavior or sexual activity caused the lesions.
