Trump’s Personal Message to Renee Good’s Father After Fatal ICE Incident

The Trump response

In the midst of national attention, former President Donald Trump weighed in. CBS Evening News anchor Tony Dokoupil noted during an interview that Renee’s father is a Republican and a Trump supporter — highlighting the tension between personal grief and political allegiance.

Trump addressed Macklin directly, saying, “I want to say to the father that I love all of our people. They can be on the other side, as you say, he might be on my side. And I think that’s great.” He also acknowledged Renee’s character: “I would bet you that she, under normal circumstances, was a very solid, wonderful person,” though he described her actions during the incident as “pretty tough.”

When asked about the use of deadly force, Trump referenced Renee’s wife, Becca Good, saying, “The woman and her friend were highly disrespectful of law enforcement. Law enforcement should not be in a position where they have to put up with this stuff.” He added that he viewed their actions as “outrageous.”

Family perspectives

Speaking to CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront, Macklin reiterated his support for Trump while acknowledging the tragedy’s complexity. “I’m not blaming anybody,” he said. “The ICE agent… at first I didn’t see the footage where he was actually being rammed. I mean, I’ve seen the bumper of the car hitting his legs. And so in a flash like that, it’s hard to say how you would react.”

The family’s statements underline the complicated emotions surrounding Renee’s death — love, loss, grief, and the struggle to reconcile personal beliefs with painful reality.

As the investigation continues and public debate intensifies, Renee Good’s life, her dedication to her children, and her family’s heartbreak remain at the center of a national conversation about accountability, law enforcement, and the human cost behind political narratives.
