Physical intimacy is often discussed as part of romance, but its meaning can extend far beyond sexual activity. For many couples, everyday affection—holding hands, hugging, sitting close together, or sharing a gentle kiss—can provide reassurance, connection, and a sense of closeness.
When those moments gradually disappear, the emotional effect can sometimes be significant. However, everyone’s experience is different, and a period of reduced affection does not automatically mean that a relationship is failing.
