Physical touch can communicate many different things, but it does not always have one universal meaning.
When someone places a hand on another person’s leg, the gesture may be friendly, supportive, affectionate, or simply part of an established habit between people who know each other well. In other situations, however, it may make someone uncomfortable or cross a personal boundary.
