This evening, I stepped into the bathroom and noticed something stuck near the wall that definitely wasn’t there last night.

I’m not exaggerating when I say I nearly yelped. The shape looked so odd that my brain instantly jumped to worst‑case scenarios—like a strange nest, mold growth, or something else I didn’t even want to name. To make it worse, there were reddish smudges nearby, which made the whole scene look even more unsettling.

Once I caught my breath, I went into full investigation mode. I spent close to an hour studying it from different angles, then grabbed a flashlight and checked around the pipes and corners, trying to figure out how it got there. The texture was what really threw me off: lightweight, porous, and sponge‑like—the kind of material that doesn’t immediately scream “normal household item.”

Of course, that’s when my imagination started spiraling. I pictured insects, rodents, hidden leaks—basically every expensive home repair and creepy possibility you can think of.
