Her Family Arrived at the Lake House With a Trailer

Nora thought buying a lake house would give her something simple: quiet weekends, a place to breathe, and a property that was finally hers. Instead, one message from her father made it clear that her family had started seeing the home very differently.

He told her the next family reunion would be held there. Not asked. Not suggested. Told.

At first, Nora tried to stay calm. A weekend visit might have been manageable if anyone had spoken to her like the owner of the home. But the plans quickly grew beyond a casual gathering. Her sister mentioned that the kids could stay for much of the summer. Her mother talked about filling the extra rooms with relatives. An uncle planned to bring a boat.

By the time Nora put all the comments together, the problem was obvious. Her family was not planning a visit. They were preparing to use her property as if it belonged to everyone.
