An Emirates flight arriving in Dubai turned into a major airport emergency when the aircraft crash-landed during its approach, forcing hundreds of passengers and crew to evacuate within minutes. Airline officials said all 300 people on board survived, though the response also came with a tragic loss: a firefighter died while helping handle the emergency.
The aircraft was operating as Emirates Flight EK521 from Thiruvananthapuram, India, to Dubai International Airport. The incident happened shortly before 1:00 p.m. local time as the plane was arriving at one of the world’s busiest travel hubs.
According to Emirates, the flight carried 282 passengers and 18 crew members. Officials confirmed that everyone aboard was safely accounted for after the evacuation.
